Ready for College?
12-year-old Jacob Barnett is already there. He even tutors his fellow students! Jake has an IQ of 170 – higher than Albert Einstein, himself.
Jake was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at age 3. People with Asperger’s often have very specified interests – Jacob’s are astronomy and mathematics. He attended normal school for a while, but was bored by it. After teaching himself calculus, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry in a week(!!), Jake started classes in math and astrophysics at Indiana University-Purdue University Indanapolis. And he hasn’t stopped since – in fact, his professors now plan to move him to a paid research position. He’s challenging the Big Bang Theory!
And just for those of us who have trouble with numbers, Jake has a YouTube series to bring us up to speed.
The Barnett family founded My Jacob’s Place, “specializing in where kids with autism can be awesome.” My Jacob’s Place is a nonprofit organization to that provides kids with autism and their families with a special place to foster friendships and support one another.
