Poltergeists

What are poltergeists?

While doing all of my research on the existence of ghosts and the paranormal, I keep stumbling across the word “poltergeist”. I decided to do some further research into this, so I could better understand them.

I found some really interesting stuff. Turns out, poltergeists are a type of ghost.   Ghosts haunt places but poltergeists haunt people.

Poltergeists are troublesome spirits who are noisy, disruptive, and destructive. Most encounters with poltergeists involve inanimate objects being picked up and thrown by an invisible person, noises such as knocking and rapping, and petty physical attacks on human beings, such as pinching, biting, and hitting.

You might remember Peeves, the poltergeist from the Harry Potter series.  Peeves was described as an indestructible spirit of chaos. If you remember, he annoyed Harry and his friends quite a bit.

There have also been real reported cases of poltergeists that date back to the year 1698.

I’m not afraid to admit it: these things scare the living daylights out of me. At least with a ghost, you can get away by leaving the place it is doomed to haunt. But poltergeists haunt people! How do you get away from that?!
