Kids for Clean Water

How important is clean water?

You can’t live without it.  So how come there are kids around the world who don’t have access to clean water?

That’s the question kids at Cypress Park Elementary in Vancouver, B.C. asked. They learned about that many communities in Africa don’t have the water they need.  They also discovered that there is a solution to the problem: building wells.

The kids of Cypress Park decided to do what they could to help.

They teamed up with the Obakki Foundation.  The Obakki Foundation believes that giving an African community access water allows the community to grow and expand!

The students decided to raise money to help build wells.  Then with bake sales (mmm, brownies!), lemonade stands and digging through their piggy banks, the school raised enough for two wells in Sudan!

Now they get updates from the villages they helped to learn more about life in Africa!

Do you think your school could build a well? Check out the Obakki Foundation to see what you can do to get started!
